Our people and culture are at the heart of who we are and what makes us different.
Throughout our history, we’ve adapted and evolved but remain an independent business, focused on the needs of our communities. We’re proud of where we’ve come from as well as where we’re going.
Our values and beliefs are important to us and people are always at the heart of how we do things.
We're proud of where we've come from as well as where we're heading.
Always pursuing greatness, we take pride in everything we do.
We strive to go beyond what’s possible to delight our customers.
Our entire motivation is to help our communities achieve better outcomes.
We listen, learn and challenge the status quo, paying attention to the details that matter.
Our open and responsive culture empowers people, creating transparency, responsibility and respect.
We have a strong sense of character, independence and spirit.
Diversity & inclusion
We are committed to being a leading voice on gender and diversity, working both internally to celebrate individuality and inclusion across the business and externally to lead the way as a globally inclusive publisher, seeking to publish good research regardless of where it originates.
We’ve been breaking new ground with STRIDE, our Diversity and Inclusion programme, which has the goal of ensuring the same learning, development and progression opportunities for all, regardless of background and life choices. STRIDE was set up in 2016 by Vicky Williams, Emerald Publishing CEO, to empower colleagues to create a culture of diversity and inclusion. In two years the group has grown to over 124 members (nearly half of our workforce), organised over 25 talks, and established an active online community, posting 150 times a week. It has a visible buzz in the business, with initiatives such as ‘women in tech day’ challenging gender-related perceptions of job roles.
The work you are doing at Emerald is tangible and far ahead than any other company I have seen. I applaud the work you are doing and the journey you are on – challenging us all to follow”Anthea Stratigos,
CEO and Co-Founder of Outsell
The physical and mental wellbeing of our employees is something we take seriously as a business. We are committed to breaking down barriers, removing stigmas and encouraging the conversation around mental health; examples of which are sharing stories as part of our ‘Let’s talk about’ campaign and our dedicated Wellbeing Days. We also provide vital resources such as Mental Health First Aiders, an Employee Assistance programme and a safe space to talk for all of our employees.
Learning & development
Our people are at the heart of who we are and what makes us different, and as an organisation which has its roots in knowledge and learning, we are committed to supporting our people to develop both personally and professionally. Continuous improvement is at the core of our business, which translates into wanting our people to be curious; to listen, learn and challenge the status quo, and to strive to be their very best. We believe in the art of the possible and have an endless appetite for learning, providing development opportunities through our internal and external programmes, alongside coaching, mentoring and secondments.
