Diversity & inclusion
We are committed to being a leading voice on gender and diversity, working both internally to celebrate individuality and inclusion across the business and externally to lead the way as a globally inclusive publisher, seeking to publish good research regardless of where it originates.
We’ve been breaking new ground with STRIDE, our Diversity and Inclusion programme, which has the goal of ensuring the same learning, development and progression opportunities for all, regardless of background and life choices. STRIDE was set up in 2016 by Vicky Williams, Emerald Publishing CEO, to empower colleagues to create a culture of diversity and inclusion. In two years the group has grown to over 124 members (nearly half of our workforce), organised over 25 talks, and established an active online community, posting 150 times a week. It has a visible buzz in the business, with initiatives such as ‘women in tech day’ challenging gender-related perceptions of job roles.

The physical and mental wellbeing of our employees is something we take seriously as a business. We are committed to breaking down barriers, removing stigmas and encouraging the conversation around mental health; examples of which are sharing stories as part of our ‘Let’s talk about’ campaign and our dedicated annual Wellbeing Week. We also provide vital resources such as Mental Health First Aiders, an Employee Assistance programme and a safe space to talk for all of our employees.
