São Paulo and beyond

Although our Latin America and the Caribbean office is based in São Paulo, Brazil we also have representatives in Brasilia, Mexico City, La Coruña and Panama City and we cover 45 countries through Latin America and the Caribbean. Our team at Emerald Latin America and the Caribbean speak over 6 different languages and have a love of travelling and getting out in the diverse and multicultural region we serve.

A little bit of São Paulo

If you ever visit São Paulo on a Sunday, you will love to experience cycling or scootering down Paulista Avenue, one of the citys most famous landmarks. Sundays are a great day to take a stroll down the avenue as it is closed to traffic and many artists and artisans set up stalls to sell their work.

Beco do Batman

Another vibrant area of the city is the The Beco do Batman (Batman’s Alley). This colourful break from the rest of the city is a real hotspot of culture and those seeking photo opportunities of the impressive graffiti that line the streets.

Pastel de feira (everyone’s favourite)

A real food treat and a must try when visiting São Paulo, the Pastel de feira is traditionally sold on the streets, in weekly open-air marketplaces, the ‘Pastel’ is a crispy rectangle-shaped thin pie with assorted fillings, fried in vegetable oil. Once a year, pastel stall owners compete to be chosen as the best ‘Pastel of São Paulo’.

Working from home

Almost half of our team are home-office based in Panamá City, Mexico City and La Coruña and experience a different way of working. We are a technically advance company and use internal communications tools such as teams as well as other methods to ensure we are always in touch no matter where we are based. Our strong team focus means we always collaborate with the rest of the team either in our region or globally and often travel across Latin America and the Caribbean to meet customers and join conferences. Although challenging, as it requires a lot of organization and time management skills, working from home also offers an important work–life balance.

Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

As a UNESCO World Heritage site, The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México is the most prestigious educational institution in the country. Murals in the main campus were painted by some of the most recognized artists in Mexican history. We are lucky to be able to partner with this university as well as many others in the country in order to deliver excellent customer service.

“I have published and co-edited 12 books in areas of sustainability and firm internationalization and 7 of them have been published with Emerald. My experience with Emerald has been absolutely wonderful. The entire process from the idea, to the feedback on the book proposal, proof reading, and marketing was exceptionally good. Emerald ensures editors and authors have a high commitment with quality, relevance and rigor. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Emerald as a publisher”
