We are passionate about inspiring and supporting the evolving research needs of our communities here in the USA and Canada. This is why we endeavour to support all manner of regional activities aimed at impact. Whether it be aligning our research outputs to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals or supporting both researchers and practitioners with timely and innovative dissemination pathways, Emerald USA and Canada is all about ideas, connections and community building.
The USA and Canada team is creative, curious, passionate, and focused. We take our roles seriously but also have a serious amount of fun!

What our customers say
“Emerald’s Health and Social Care journals are an excellent resource for students, faculty and especially practitioners who are looking for relevant research and practice-based evidence that will be useful in their efforts to address healthcare needs around the world.”Larry Davidson

“It is a pleasure working with Emerald. Your team is incredibly supportive, dynamic, and truly interested in the substance of the works published. Spending a day with selected members of the Emerald group last fall gave me renewed energy and inspiration for my current book project.”Amy C. Edmondson

Location, location, location
Our regional office sits squarely on the Cambridge/Somerville line. We are only a short walk away from Harvard Square, Inman Square, Porter Square, and Union Square. Home to two world-class institutions – Harvard and MIT – the Cambridge/Somerville area is an innovation hub that attracts the best of the best. A short jump across the Charles River and you’re in Boston, a city rich with history, art, and innovation galore. We’re located in an area of firsts: first public schools in the US, first public park, and the first national subway system. Public transportation via the T and MBTA buses makes it easy for the team to travel to and from the office.
Meaningful relationships with customers and the community
Our team here in the USA and Canada work with over 680 higher education institutions, offering Emerald products and services to help support scholarship and knowledge exchange. Faculty and students across Canada and the US access our publications as part of their academic journey. Our team travels the region to meet in person with scholars, librarians, and industry thought leaders.
From Texas to Vancouver you can find the sales, marketing, and publishing teams at conferences and events all year round. We are also committed to partnering with our local communities be it fundraising, service work, or office donations. We’re proud to support the following groups: BAGLY, 826 Boston, BARCC, the Cambridge Women’s Center, and Transition House among others. Emerald’s publishing program is similarly dedicated to issues of inclusion, equity, and diversity.
Who we are
The North America team is the real deal in terms of diversity – we come in all ages, sizes, colors, and gender identities! We’re committed to an inclusive, caring, and communal work environment. We pride ourselves on cross-departmental collaboration both within the regional team and with our global Emerald family. From taking in a baseball game at Fenway Park to participating in the Emerald charity cricket game, many of us love sports while other team-members are passionate about salsa dancing, martial arts, theatre, and travel. We’ve been known to have the occasional four-legged friend in the office, too!
